A deeper midsole makes this a shoe capable of running longer in. The super tough upper features Kevlar and of course, the Ultra features VJ's mega-grippy outsole. Good ultra adventure choice or a shoe for your shorter, muddy runs.
With more and more shoes taking aim at ultra-distance use, the focus tends to be on additional cushioning. This new model from off-road specialists, VJ Sport is no different and is their most cushioned to date, adding to what the brand has become known for, top build quality, durability, and grip.
If you are looking for a well-cushioned trail shoe, but are not willing to compromise on weight or responsiveness, the VJ Ultra is for you. Developed with input from elite runners, the VJ Ultra is outstanding for longer distances, as the name implies. It is also an excellent choice for shorter distances when you want a little extra cushioning and comfort. To ensure exceptional grip, the Superior Contact outsole is made of our famous butyl rubber. The last is a medium +, which is suitable for most runners. The added toe space gives you some extra balance and comfort.
Cushioning comes in the form of a 33mm deep EVA midsole with a 6mm drop. This makes the shoe very much in the maximal category, but with a broader footprint, the shoes feels much more stable than many and means it can tackle much rougher terrain with ease and confidence.
The familiar FITLOCK upper remains and makes for a great lockdown into the shoe (essential on uneven terrain), here it’s a slightly softer material and that makes it just as effective but even more comfortable and effective.
Kevlar is used in the upper mesh and helps to make it highly durable and with additional padding in the heel collar the foot really beds into the shoe after a few runs. The overall fit is a little broader than too, helpful for those with wider feet but also in providing a little room should the foot swell on long distance outing.
One notable feature of the brands shoes is the use of Butyl rubber on the soles, this rubber is exceptional hard wearing as well as offering exceptional grip on any surface. The 4mm lugs don’t appear too aggressive, but traction is unwavering.
It’s a shoe built to go the distance and with the additional cushioning and durable build that we are used to from the brand it should have no trouble in doing so.
