As close to a racing shoe as you’ll get in the world of GTX shoes. Impressive and a shoe that quickly made its way into our everyday stable. Reliable, great around town and nicely cushioned for a trail shoe.
They initially feel a little bulky but there’s that interesting cushioned feel that quickly counter acts that early feeling. These look like a shoe that will cope with mud but at a pinch, they’re an acceptably good road shoe - urban trail fans will surely love this shoe.
The technology is old school Saucony featuring a resilient Everun topsole foam unit that’s durable yet responsive. It cushions the foot during impact, but also disperses the pressure gotten from the act. It is also able to assist the forefoot in lifting in a more efficient manner, because it has energy-returning properties. It is cushioning that’s placed really close to the underfoot for more comfort. The ComfortLite Sock Liner is a molded add-on placed above the main cushioning system. It supports the contours of the heel and arch, while also getting rid of blister-causing pressure in the forefoot area.
Fit is less of an issue with shoes today and this is no exception - it feels comfortable from the off thanks to the Isofit mesh technology, which like so many out there fits around your foot perfectly. There are no seams to irritate you and there is a Gusseted Tongue which shields the shoe from any incoming debris. An interior chamber that’s free from debris makes the running experience more agreeable and comfortable.
There’s an ultra grippy PWR TRAC outsole, which works off a competitively fast 4mm drop. Admittedly it doesn’t look supremely grippy but a quick run in the shoes tells us the hexagonal pattern allows the outsole to hold onto a variety of surfaces. Whether it’s technical ground, soft paths, uphill routes, or downward trails; this rubber unit is going to hold onto them with ease. All good news.
There is a feeling out there that GTX shoes can be unforgiving and rigid, certainly not the case with these amazingly flexible, light, performance loving shoes. More than most off-road shoes, they are as at home on the road as they are off it, making them supremely versatile and a great bet for urban trail types.
MIDSOLE
EVERUN is a responsive cushioning compound that helps to distribute forces over a large area.
SSL EVA is Saucony's premium midsole material for lightweight comfort, rebound and durability.
OUTSOLE
PWRTRAC is a tacky rubber compound that offers significantly more traction than traditional rubber, shaped in a hexagonal pattern to adapt to a variety of terrain.
UPPER
ISOFIT is a stretchable mesh that adapts to the foot's size, shape, and movement, updating to enhance the ultra-soft, sock-like feel while still allowing the foot to move naturally.
Gussetted Tongue prevents debris from entering the shoe.
RUNDRY Collar Lining secures the heel while wicking moisture.
Molded Toe Shell protects toes from loose debris.
ComfortLite Sockliner is a molded sockliner that contours the heel and arch, reducing pressures in the forefoot.
Heel Support Frame supports the heel through the gait cycle.
Strobel Last with the upper stitched to full length HRC Strobel Board, for responsive, enhanced cushioning and a soft underfoot feel.
Gore-Tex Mesh throughout the upper and is waterproof and yet breathable for a dry, comfortable shoe environment.
