The brand's range topping off-road shoe. It offers excellent cushioning as well as grip, but do you need this much 'high-tech' cushioning when you'll be prodominantly off-road? The Peregrine may also be worth considering.
The brand's range topping off-road shoe provides great cushioning and traction but at a premium price. It's a well put together shoe and it does the job, but there are other options from the brand that perform just as well for less money.
A shoe for the roughest conditions, this model offers exceptional grip and cushioning. The flexible nature of the shoe allows the foot to adapt easily to the conditions and performs like a luxury off-road model.
For a cheaper but capable alternative, check out the Saucony Peregrin 10.
The full length PWRRUN+ midsole is a TPU based material made up of thousands of tiny pellets of the material bonded together. In the same was as the adidas version, BOOST performs, this midsole unit offers similar qualities of shock absorption and repsonse. It's similar to the cushioning used in the brands Freedom road shoe, so you can expect a flexible and lively ride.
Some may find it too soft for the trails or question as to how much cushioning they require when on soft ground requiring this level of grip?
The brands ISOFIT upper ensures as good a fit as you'll get on any shoe, trail shoe or otherwise. The materials used are all high quality and manage to provide a soft feel, yet remain very durable and protective.
The PWRTRAC outsole uses a very durable rubber that offers excellent grip on pretty much any terrain and in any conditions. The 5mm deep lugs will keep you upright and provide an enhansed sense of surefootedness on those slippy descents.
There's no doubt these are really great shoes. The cushioning is excellent as is the grip. But given the price it iswhat you'd expect. Given its premium price tag over the brands other off-road models, you'd have to ask if they are they worth the extra cost.
In typical off-road conditions, where you'd be taking these shoes, the ground will be undoubtably soft, so having such responsive cushioning is often negated. That said, the shoe is a little more flexible than the Peregrine, so some may find that an advantage.
Try the Peregrine or the Xodus and you'll be sure to get a great shoe whichever you choose.
PWRRUN+ Midsole- Enhanced energy return and cushioning from the brand's midsole material.
Deep Aggressive Directional Lugs- Offers grip on a range of surfaces and conditions.
Lug Height- 5 mm for aggresive grip without slip.
