A very stable shoe. Neutral cushioning with a straighter last and very stable platform make it perfect for use with orthotics. That's a rather niche market but it's a perfect combination. Otherwise, it is highly cushioned, very roomy and very durable.
Perfect for use with custom orthotics, the shoe offers lots of durable, stable cushioning as well as a spacious upper.
A cushioned daily trainer with a generous fit, the Saucony Echelon 8 is an excellent pick for both flat-footed runners or runners who use orthotics.
Built on a straight and wide platform, the Saucony Echelon 8 is ready to accommodate a variety of foot shapes and arch heights. Additionally, the straight platform and low arch structure design allows for uninhibited use of an orthotic or insole.
Now with a PWRRUN midsole, the Echelon 8 offers an enhanced cushioning experience over the previous models, and the upper has been redesigned to be more spacious for those looking for extra volume without losing its secure fit.
PWRRUN cushioning, as featured across most of the brands shoes, is used here. The shoe feels a little firmer and that's probably down to a denser version of the cushioning. That helps keep the shoe stable. It's also a little staighter lasted, that adds to the stability too. It's a neutral shoe so for those with orthotics it provides a very stable platform on which to use them.
Well made and with plenty of volume, this shoe is a godsend for those with wider feet or high insteps. The insole is a little thicker then many others so when removed makes plenty of space for those with custom orthotics.
The outsole compliments the midsole and overall aim of the shoe in that it helps keep things stable and proves a durable solution.
Rather specific in that it works best for those that wish to use a shoe with their own orthotics. If that's you then this is probably one of the best options for you.
