The Saucony Cohesion 10 is a bargain when you see through the lack of marketed technologies and consider this a solid, well-built running shoe without the frills of many modern shoes. Most of the high-end tech is stripped out, but it’s a Saucony fit and feel first and foremost, with a no-nonsense attitude for the runner wanting a basic but perfectly acceptable mid-level running shoe. This shoe is ideal for recreational runners, and multi-sport gym users who want amazing value.
A bargain basement shoe from Saucony? Well, even from one of the world's best shoe brands, we were not expecting much. However, we were pleasantly suprised to find that this would be a great shoe for someone getting in to running or someone on a budget.
An Injection moulded midsole allows for easy and quick production runs for efficiency, as keeping manufacturing costs down was obviously a priority here. But what it does deliver is a basic IMEVA midsole that is reasonably comfortable, surprisingly springs, and well though out in design. It is a technical midsole without the frills, with nice radius on the midsole / outsole, de-coupling where you need it, and a great fit. There is no support through the midfoot, this shoe is purely for the neutral runner.
Everything works on this upper, even if the design is dated. Its looks like a technical running shoe, has traditional PU overlays stitched on an air mesh, so support and breathability are a given. It lacks any modern welded or woven features as its built to a price first and foremost. Its hardwearing, functional, and after the first really muddy run to hide the looks, a great value addition to your running wardrobe.
Here is the only major issue on the shoe, the outsole rubber compound. Its cheap, and therefore hard, which means when it is dry, its very hard wearing but when its wet, its got some grip issues! It has all the design features of far more expensive Saucony shoes, with great flex grooves, and a cored out heel area for impact protection.
A superb shoe for the money - you get what you pay for with most things in life and here you get all the shoe building know how of Saucony, with a basic bur effective shoe from top to bottom, with an issue on the hard rubber compound of the outsole not performing in the wet too well. The Saucony Cohesion 10 is an amazing value gym shoe / recreation shoe, but not a shoe for high mileage all season running.
I ran 5 times in this shoe – for a total of about 35 miles and it was great without being impressive, but for the money today, it was a brilliant little performer.
