The Salomon Speedcross 4 Nocturne GTX is a waterproof trail running shoe designed for a neutral foot motion, ideal for off-road training or adventure racing.
Packed with technology, the Speedcross Nocture is all about tackling challenging conditions comfortably and in control.
A solid, fast feeling shoe that looks like it will cope with some pretty demanding conditions. he Speedcross 4 features an updated outsole pattern for even greater traction and higher durability, to keep you moving forwards no matter what the trail throws at you. This special edition includes a Gore-Tex upper, to keep you dry, and reflective details to keep your visibility high.
The molded EVA midsole provides lighweight cushioning and stability - it’s solid feeling rather than some softer road shoes. That’s no bad thing, but worth noting. It may feel a little unresponsive early on but in reality that means more stability in some pretty tough, demanding conditions. We took them for a spin around the mountains in Annecy, France and were impressed with the way gravel and tougher terrain felt forgiving.
The Gore-Tex membrane does a great job in keeping your feet dry in pretty wet conditions plus Salomon’s Sensifit cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot. Fit is always good in Salomon’s shoes thanks to the Quick Fit lacing system, although there’s a bit of love it or hate it here as one or two just don’t get on with the system. We suggest they are exceptions but it’s worth noting.
We love the grip and the 10mm drop Salomon uses; to be truthful there’s not much to report here - it’s great, grips in nasty conditions and really should only be used off-road. They aren’t too happy on the road but love it off.
These are very technical shoes and are best suited to some pretty extreme conditions. A trip around the park is not what they’re about - mountains, dirt tracks and mud, however, are.
