Solid, basic cushioned shoe that feels fine and offers some grip off-road.
Part of a line up on shoes with the Sonic name, the Balance is the brand’s neutral offering, with the Accelerate and Confidence being the faster and more controlling options respectively.
Each shoe in the SONIC range uses the same Optivibe cushioning. This material was developed to help reduce vibration oscillating through the foot and leg upon impact. Where the shoes differ is in the placement of a Geometric Decoupling groove cut into the sole. This groove either promotes or reduces the inward roll of the foot for a controlled gait. In this the neutral offering the groove simply helps optimise a neutral gait.
The shoe does indeed feel very balanced and stable with the cushioning providing a nice feel that proves very durable.
The shoe features a rather simple engineered mesh which is breathable and lightweight. The shoe also features an OrthoLite Sockliner for aditional comfort.
The outsole features a combination of Salomon's Contragrip materials. Blown Rubber Contagrip provides lightweight and durable traction, while their Contagrip FA offers enhanced traction in wet and slippery conditions.
Although a road running shoe, the outsole offers reasonable traction on a variety of surfaces (as you might expect from the brand) and, despite the colour (other colours are available) the shoe proves to be a versatile, go-anywhere type model.
Optivibe midsole decreases muscle vibration, increase shock absorption, and increase responsiveness.

OrthoLite Sockliner is composed of anti-bacterial material for reduced odor and moisture while adding cushion directly underfoot.
