A new training shoe perhaps more suited to tempo running. Lively cushioning offers brilliant value for money. Puma is finally back with a very worthwhile range.
Light, energetic cushioning with a simple yet effective upper equates to a very good shoe and at this price, might well be the best value on the market. Well done, Puma, welcome back.
This model from Puma’s new line of running shoes proves that the latest technology doesn’t have to come with a high price. Given its price point you might think it’s somewhat of an entry level product, but its performance puts it up against some of the best shoes around.
The NITRO foam can be found on some of the top-end models from the Puma as well as other brands. The nitrogen infused material has a highly responsive and lightweight feel. It’s billed as an everyday training shoe, but thanks to the low weight (around 260g) and energetic feel I’d say it’s best suited to those tempo runs or faster paced sessions. The shoe has a more traditional stack height and drop (33.5mm in the heel to 23.5mm in the forefoot), so is easy to pull on and go.
It’s a simple engineered mesh upper that’s highly breathable and follows the styling of the brands new line up shoes.
The PUMAGRIP outsole demonstrates that a little though went into the design process, it’s a hard-wearing compound, but the grip pattern proves to be ok on a variety of surfaces, so handled the light parkland paths I tried it on with no issues.
At this price, this could be the best value running shoe so far this year!
