The latest 38th version of Nike's classic. We test their classic and report on the changes.
A great package of comfort, cushioning and fit at a great price. If you are a Pegasus fan, there's nothing here that'll do anything other than encouraging you to buy another pair...
Fans of the Pegasus have learned not to raise their expectations too much with the launch of a new model and that’s mainly because they’ve always been happy with the shoe. Now in its 38th generation the new Pegasus remains true to the formula of an everyday workhorse trainer that’s light, cushioned and versatile.
The React foam remains and with the Zoom Air forefoot unit. This combination provides good cushioning and a responsive toe-off. It’s a neutral shoe and it’s worth considering that the ‘footprint’ of the shoe, particularly in the heel is rather narrow; that’s fine for those with a truly neutral gait but those requiring any support at all should look elsewhere.
The overall fit of the shoe has increased in width this time, particularly in the forefoot to allow the toes to spread a little but the shoe still feels secure thanks to the lacing loops which wrap around the midfoot.
As always, the Waffle inspired outsole remains and is one of the best designs around, especially for versatile traction on pretty much any surface.
Everyday comfort, great cushioning and fit at a very good price. Good for nike - no major changes and they've kept the price extremely competitive. This model will be as successful as any other.
