Mainly an updated upper this time around. A little more padding in the tongue and a thicker knit. Overall a good update with a better fit.

Our verdict

The React Infinity Run Flyknit 2 offers the same cushioning as before with with a slightly better fitting upper. The jury is still out with regards the durability of the shoe in terms of cushioning. But while it lasts it feels really good.

  • Positive
  • Fantastic cushioning
  • Versatile everyday shoe
  • Nice update to the upper
  • Negative
  • Some questions over midsole durability

First impressions

A nice update. Feels great (again) as soon as you step in.  New upper is soft and welcoming and a neater fit, particularly around the forefoot.

Midsole

The React foam feels great straight out of the box. Even on uneven terrain it seams to simply soak up the impact and any imperfections in the road. Dispite the smooth outsole design I took mine on a few trails routes and rocks just disapear under the shoe. The 'heel clip' helps keep the foot stable and the geometry of the midsole, with its heel-toe rocker as well as a slightly rounded medial to lateral base helps roll the foot forward smoothly, almost ironing out any excessive pronation. One slight question for some of our testers was the durability, with one or twon reporting that whilst the cushioning felt great for the first 300/350 miles it deteriorated very quickly, one day feeling great, the next just 'dead'. A long term test in the new model will show us if thus was perhaps due to a manufacturing issue?

Upper

The update is in the upper. Its a new soft, knitted materail and with extra padding. For us it gets the thumbs up. Some users have reported issues when they 'pull the tongue up' - no issues for our testers, so go easy there ;-)

Sole

Theres good coverage down there and its pretty durable. Only really suitable for roads due to its smooth pattern design.

Conclusion

The React Infinity Run Flyknit 2 makes minor changes to the first model. It is an exceptional neutral runners shoe yet it does offer a degree of stability which is always good twoards the end of any run.

Comfortable yet responsive with a better fitting upper.

The jury is out in terms of durability and if that's a concern then look towards the Air Zoom Pegasus

Technical info
