This new model from Nike promises to help reduce the risk of injury and keep you on the run
The cushioning is highly capable and the shoe quickly becomes a workhorse model for the high-mileage road runner.
This new model from Nike promises to help reduce the risk of injury and keep you on the run. Big claims indeed, so how does it achieve this?
The shoe sits at the very top of the neutral cushioned line for us. The Joyride is more expensive but we'd edge towards the Nike Vomero 14 and Pegasus 36 as alternatives.
The React foam midsole is deep and soft, bordering on a maximal type design, but with a broad footprint it remains very stable. Then there’s a guidance bar that surrounds the rear of the foot. These features all combine to hold the foot neatly within the centre of the cushioning and guide it forward in a smooth, stabilised manner. Along with the naturally responsive nature of the React foam there’s a great toe-off making the whole experience stable with a lively touch.
Well, the shoe is supportive without being a control shoe and very cushioned without being overly heavy. It weighs in at just under 300g but doesn’t feel heavy on the foot thanks to the neat fitting Flyknit upper.
Rubber added to the heel and forefoot offer added durability and traction with minimal weight.
Comfort and responsiveness in a beautifully designed package.
Nike React is a soft and springy cushioning compound built to deliver a high level of shock absorption without sacrificing energy return.
Rocker Geometry offers a smooth transition throughout your stride.
Injected TPU Heel Clip helps create a more inherently stable platform.
Strategic rubber placement in the heel and forefoot offer added durability and traction with minimal weight.
Flyknit Loft upper is stronger and more durable than previous iterations.
