The fast-feeling and versatile Elite 9 rides really smoothly. Good for general training but great for faster days.
The Nike Zoom Elite 9 is a shoe all about performance. It’s designed to make you feel light and snappy and ready to rumble. Take a look at the adidas Ultraboost for something similar.
First Impressions? The Elite series has always been about pacier days and the 9 is no exception. It looks like a faster shoe thanks in part to the last shape and the slightly lower profile (8mm heel to toe). The question is: does it perform like one? Let’s take a look
This shoe is built with the neutral runner in mind, working off a racing last. The shoe rides very well. It is extremely responsive and this model feels softer than the previous Elite 8.
The midsole features a Zoom Air unit in the forfoot and this makes the shoe feel quicker than before. You get a lovely quick bounce-back from it which works best at speed.
The Elite 9 makes running enjoyable. This misole rides smoothly but swiftly so we think it's versatile. You'll love running long in these shoes but obviously, the Elite 9 is also built for speed so great for tempo and longer races.
The shoe features a seamless flymesh upper which we found breathable and the shoes are good to wear without socks if that's what you like. The inner sleeve has a very smooth and comfortable feel.
The Elite 9 also features asymmetrical lacing for a better fit and more efficient lock down. The shoes certinly feel comfortable on the foot and the fit is nice and snug, ideal for a swifter shoe. However, we think the toe box is a little shallow.
There’s a reworked waffle outsole which offers durable, sticky traction and the shoe offers top loaded zoom air in forefoot for increased responsiveness
A rubber crash rail on the lateral side helps promote smooth transition from striking to pushing off.
This is a cool looking shoe and the 8mm heel to toe, working with such a comfortable fit means you can use these for most of your fast runs and if you fancy adding one or two other runs as well, well that’s not a problem thanks to the cushioning. We love pace work and anything up to eight or nine miles. A really nice shoe that is at home on most road and path trails.
