A shoe offering near-maximal levels of cushioning with some stability incorporated in a manner that doesn't detract at all from the overall soft feel of the shoe. Runners requiring a shoe for a little over-pronation could wear this shoe just as easily as neutral athletes.
A well engineered shoe that demonstrates support and control can be achieved without medial posts and bulk. The midsole here works to both absorb impact and create a stable platform. The overall result is a shoe that could very well suit the vast majority of runners out there looking for a light, cushioned and relatively responsive daily trainer.
Plush cushioning and mild support, the shoe is a nice alternative approach to control.
The midsole doesn't feature a medial post but is engineered to compress or resist compression whilst under impact.
For a different feeling supportive NB shoe, check out the NB 860 v10.
It's all about the midsole with this shoe.
The cleverly engineered geometry of the midsole manages to remain soft, offering a smooth ride, whilst at the same time stable.
The shaped edges of the midsole allow compression on the lateral edge as you land and firm things up a little should you pronate and roll inwards. The result is very effective and natural feeling support.
The new, softer upper offers a little more stretch than the previous versions and fits like many of the new season New Balance models. That's a good thing, with a stretch that provides near sock-like fit, feeling secure yet allowing a little wiggle room.
The sole is standard fare to be honest, but that's not where the action is with this model. It's durable and offers grip for most situations.
A really versatile shoe that could fit the needs of many runners. If you want something a little different from the more traditional models this shoe is certainly worth considering for its combination of cushioning, general stability and responsive ride.
The engineered FreshFoam cushioning creates stability in a light and responsive unit.
