The second carbon plated shoe from New Balance (the first being the 5280) the TC or trainer-competition aims to bridge the gap between ultra-light racing shoes and more cushioned training models. Perfect for faster paced training sessions, intervals and tempo running, the New Balance FuelCell TC is a serious contender to the Nike Vaporfly.
Perfect for faster paced training runs and even races (yes we think it is light enough for all but the very serious runner) this shoe is a more competitively priced carbon plated shoe and a great option.
Engineered to meet the demands of marathons and training runs alike, our FuelCell TC women's running shoe combines a fast and fierce feel with impressive durability. The FuelCell midsole is designed to deliver high rebound and it’s complemented by a full-length internal carbon fiber plate that helps to provide an engaging ride. The sleek, breathable upper is designed to help keep feet cool and dry from 5K to 26.2.
If you want something lighter then wait for the RC version (racer - competition) it promised the same feel but with less weight.
The Fuelcell TC sits at the top of the fast training shoe offering from New Balance. Shoes sitting below it are the Fuelcell Rebel and the Fresh Foam Tempo, both are very good.
High-rebound FuelCell midsole combined with an internal carbon fiber plate adds unparalleled responsiveness to each step - but beware - it is strictly for the neutral runner. If you have any instability you'll find lots of wobble!
Engineered mesh upper provides breathable support without compromising flexibility - fits the foot well. There is a little bunching around the forefoot but thats only to be expected from the lightweight and thin fabric upper.
The rubber outsole provides good durability and makes the shoe more useable; an everyday trainer.
A serious contender for many compared to the Nike Vaporfly Next%, which is the shoe by which all carbon plated shoes are now measured. This model is a little heavier - but not enough to be concerned about unless you are a sub 2:30 marathoner. The ride is smooth and engaging and certainly feel fast.
