For a stability shoe, the 880 v6 is light in weight is flexibility and well-cushioned. The price make this a bargain!
Overview
The New Balance 880 v6 is a high-mileage running shoe is cushioned for comfort and it offers some support. It features a data-driven upper design and two cushioning foams work together to soften each step while intelligent geometries in the midsole and outsole deliver inherent stability. Consider the Nike Structure as an alternative.
First Impressions? Well designed, good looking shoe with loads of detail. It looks wide for a soft landing and the uppers appear nice and supportive. A shoe for over pronators. It comes in a Gore-Tex version for superb waterproofing.
The technicians have taken a look at the outsole and created round pods to land on. These will provide a little more traction and a little more response as you drive off. On top of that is the Acteva compression moulded foam that is 24 per cent lighter than most mid-sole foams. It’s providing durability and cushioning while saving weight. Working with that is Abzorbfoam, a highly resilient and reliable material. It features a mix of Dupont Engage Isoprene rubber and New Balance’s own materials for long lasting and efficient performance during each run. This foam can be found separately in the forefoot and heel areas, therefore providing shock absorption during heel striking and toe offs.
Breathability is the name of the game for this good looking shoe. Strategically placed holes create ventilation while the overlay system on the lateral and medial sides work with the lacing system to help runners customize the fit. When the shoelaces are adjusted, the overlays react and affect the upper fabric to follow the tightness or looseness of the laces.
A stability shoe that’s competitively light in weight and user friendly straight out of the box. We liked the flexibility and cushioning and the price!
