Our verdict

A great value racing shoe which provides excellent cushioning and fit with a little support, the shoe is sure to be a winner.

  • Positive
  • Low-profile, classic racer styling
  • Small medial support for added control
  • Sock-like upper fit
  • Negative
  • At this price - nothing

First impressions

Built in the mould of an old-school road racing shoe, this model provides lightweight cushioning, a great fit and a touch of support, all at a great value price.

If you want the ultimate NB racer you'll need to look towards the NB 5280 but also look towards the Fuelcell TC or Fuelcell Rebel for longer races perhaps.

Midsole

The REVLight midsole is a relatively firm ride, but feels perfect for shorter races on the road. Nothing is lost in terms of energy as you plant your foot, the force you use to drive off doing just that. A small medial post helps to keep things stable too, so even mild over-pronators can use this model.

Upper

The upper is almost sock-like in its design and fit. It’s a beautiful piece of work and the knitted fabric hugs the foot and creates a sense of being an extension of the foot; natural and light.

Sole

A blown rubber compound over the majority of the sole has a multi-directional sticky grip for all-season wear. The rubber is durable which is great news on a racing shoe so you should get good wear from them.

Conclusion

At this price, this is an accomplished shoe and even makes sense for those wanting to add a lightweight racer to their shoe collection.
