If you're after a stable, well-made shoe the NB 1260 could be for you. They are very comfortable and would look after you on your easy and steady runs.
The New Balance 1260 v6 is for overpronators looking for stability and cushioning. For this new version, New Balance has maintained the support you need while upping the cushioning and upgrading to even better materials. For something similar give the Brooks Transcend 4 a go.
First Impressions? Very, very comfortable. They are as soft and plush as they look, which is a definite plus point. They look superbly built and ready for some testing times.
New Balance uses its Ndurance technology in the heel for durability. In addition, blown rubber forms the rest of the sole for a more flexible, responsive ride. Traction isn’t an issue thanks in part to the stable platform runners drive off from. On to the midsole and you’ll see it’s acteva Lite which runs the full-length. A responsive material, it provides good drive as you go through the running motion. N2 Cushioning sits in the heel for better cushioning.
This shoe is all about stability which is provided by a post and New Balance’s T-Beam TPU shank – in short, your foot isn’t going anywhere it shouldn’t! Interestingly, the shoe is built on an 8mm heel to toe drop which does make it better for running quicker in. More often than not, shoes like this tend towards a 12mm drop.
The upper is standard for New Balance in that it’s breathable and uses a woven fabric for a snug fit. No-sew means the chance of blistering is greatly reduced. New Balance use an Asymetrical heel counter which stabilises an over-pronator’s foot. It does fit a little looser than some other brands.
A great stability shoe that offers some ability to double up as a performance shoe. For someone looking for comfort over really long distances, this would be a good option.
