For over-pronators the Inspire has always been a reliable model.
Providing a good level of cushioning and control, with the ENERZY midsole cushioning the shoe moves up a notch with a more responsive ride.
For over-pronators this shoe is right up there with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS and New Balance 860 in terms of dependable performance. It’s a little more expensive than these two alternatives but certainly worth considering as with a slightly lower volume fit, it hugs the foot perfectly. The ride is improved over the previous model thanks to the layer of ENERZY foam and that makes the shoe a little more versatile and perfect for any pace running.
Updated with the brand’s new ENERZY midsole foam and a refreshed upper the shoe looks and feels fresh and energised.
The introduction of the ENERZY midsole adds a little extra ‘pop’ to proceedings. In an effort to update the shoe and energise it, the new layer of foam certainly provides a noticeably springier toe-off compared to the previous model. It’s not a super-shoe or carbon plate spring but it certainly makes the shoe feel a little livelier.
The Wave provides the control and taking the form of a ‘plastic’ wedge it does a very good job of control over-pronation.
A nice update: the brand has finally brought the upper into line with the competition. It’s a neatly made engineered mesh and looks and feels really good around the foot. It feels a little lower volume than the previous model, so try before you buy.
The brands X-10, hard wearing rubber in the heel adds great durability to the sole for heel strikers and the blown rubber forefoot means a smooth push-off. Traction-wise, it’s no off-roader but will cope well enough with light trails and tracks that you will encounter on daily runs.
A good update thanks to the ENERZY foam layer and still one of the most capable shoes around for over-pronators. The WAVE provides a durable and noticeable amount of control and retains that feel over the lifetime of the shoe. Along with the NB860 and Brooks GTS Adrenaline, it’s one of the best support shoes around.
