Overview
The midsole of this shoe really has a road running shoe feel to it. There are good levels of both cushioning and support. The weight of the shoe is in keeping with this so the Ascend is fairly responsive as trail shoes go. The outsole does has good grip, all important for off-road, and the upper is also secure. This means the shoe is good for those runs mixing on and off-road, and for the type of trails runners normally head for. Of course if you are heading for more severe terrain you will want something more robust.
