Well made and tough shoe as you would expect from Merrell. Midsole is fairly basic however.
Suited to long days on the trails on rough, rocky terrain, this shoe features a Vibram outsole for traction and durability and a deep dual density midsole for cushioning and support.
The midsole incorporates a medial post to control pronation but given the nature of the terrain the shoe will encounter; we’d say it’s more to provide general stability and maintain a generally steady footing.
It’s a very well-constructed shoe, with a strong upper, so able to handle rugged mountain terrain with ease. The upper has a bootie construction that fits very well and feels snug and secure from the very first step.
The outsole lugs are 5mm deep and made with the Vibram Metagrip compound. They are multi-directional, so work very well as you descend and ascend steep surfaces.
Given the brand’s heritage this shoe really should be very much at home in the hills.
EVA foam midsole helps absorb impact and protect your feet from trail obstacles.
Medial post for light pronation control.
Vibram® MegaGrip® Outsole is a full-length, rubber outsole that provides versatile traction and grip.
Mesh and TPU upper offers lightweight and durable breathability.
Internal bootie for a locked-in fit.
External rear sling locks in the heel.
Mesh lining provides breathable comfort.
Removable EVA foam insole provides additional underfoot cushioning and responsiveness.
Reflective details for increased visibility in low light.
