Protection is the name of the game for those shoes. You will be treated to a high-riding, cushioned shoe that for a trail shoe is light in weight but nonetheless capable of tackling demanding, rough terrain.
Ideal for long distance, ultra-trail and ultra-marathon competitions or demanding training sessions. An extremely protective and shock absorbing boot.
This is a neutral shoe that offers plenty of technology, including an Impact Brake System where the lugs of the soles are oriented in opposing slanted directions. This opposition increases braking power by an average of 20% and decreases impact forces by and average of 20% – good news for all you hill runners out there.
The standout feature has to be the flexible forefoot rock plate, which guards your foot from hazards on the trail and a thin midsole offers a touch of cushioning.
The Ultra Raptor offer versatile soles, ideal for all types of terrain including stone, scree, grass, moss and mud. Ideal for running either in high humidity or on dry ground.
Impact Brake System - The innovative system is applied to the sole to absorb negative ground impact, help traction and improve grip downhill. Offering real advantages during racing by reducing negative ground impact. The unique position of the lugs allows as many of them as possible to come into contact with the ground, for maximum impact absorption.
EVA injected midsoles offer a high degree of cushioning and a better elasticity of the fabric. These features assist ‘push off’. EVA injected midsoles allow the product to maintain the same characteristics and high performance.
The mesh upper has significant overlays for added strength and protection. The outsole wraps up and forms a toe bumper while the shoe also features a significant heel counter for strength. The shoes certainly feel snug on the foot.
The addition of an Ortholite Sockliner adds to the comfort underfoot and moulds to the foot.
XF FriXion Outsole - The La Sportiva Frixion® stem arose from the desire to create outsoles with increased parametres of hold and durability. XF FriXion – Very sticky, versatile rubber compound.
These shoes rode perfectly well. There's nothing particularly 'wow' about the Ultra Rapotor in that department but does there need to be? They were well cushioned, comfortable, strong and offered a great grip on a variety of surfaces. The shoes hold your feet well and give you confidence so if you're venturing out for long runs in tough conditions, these shoes are worthy of consideration.
