One of the most popular and affordable shoes in the Hoka range, the Clifton 6 gets an update that is well scored because it is better than previous models in every way!
Designed for everyday road running running, the HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 6 offers a silky smooth ride and a high level of protection delivered at a relatively low weight.
The Clifton 6 has been on a diet and shed a little weight with a newly designed midsole and outsole that carries less rubber (less rubber always means less weight). This is possibly the most radical update for the Clifton so far, and the changes will not disappoint traditional Clifton lovers and will bring in more fans for this every more dependable brand in the oversized shoe market.
The Clifton sits roughly in the middle of the neutral range just below the Hoka Bondi 6 and the Hoka Elavon 2, but above models like the Mach 3 and the Hoka Cavu 3.
Early-stage Meta-Rocker geometry is applied in the midsole to increase running efficiency. Meta-Rocker midsole geometry is specifically designed with a low 5mm drop and a bevelled outsole to create a unique fulcrum effect, rocking you from heel to toe. This design supports a runner's natural form while promoting an efficient, smooth roll from initial impact to toe off.
In the Clifton 6, the transition zone is placed behind the metatarsal heads; this helps create a smoother ride and a faster transition to the forefoot - which is a great update on previous models that feel decidely slower and chunkier when compared now.
A full-length EVA midsole is generous, soft and durable. A real benefit for the new update is that the midsole absorbs stones etc., easily making this a really nice shoe to run on light trails (but it does tear up the eva in the midfoot a little - if this is an issue to you).
The Clifton 6 features a more open engineered mesh construction with fewer overlays. The upper is supple yet has limited stretch so it easily locks down the foot, and the breathability is excellent thanks to the open mesh forefoot.
Overall the upper is pretty basic, but it's dependable and comfortable. No doubt it has been designed this way to help keep the retail price competitive
A pretty grippy outsole with full ground contact and strategic hi-abrasion rubber pods cover the heel and forefoot, increasing the shoe's durability and reducing its weight. The new lug pattern supplies enhanced traction on every road surface.
Clifton fans unite - Choose the Clifton 6, for updated speed, cushioning and comfort. As updates go this is great and the overall shoe is far superior to previous versions without loosing too much of its DNA (or price tag).
Full Compression EVA provides that signature HOKA ONE ONE Cushioning.
Early Stage Meta-Rocker Geometry is a rockered midsole design engineered to encourage efficient running mechanics.
Moderate Heel Bevel gives a smooth transition.
Flat Waisted Geometry provides inherent stability.
Full Ground Contact provides increased traction and a smooth heel to toe transition.
Hi-Abrasion Lightweight Rubber is strategically placed for traction and durability, with an updated design to optimize grip and energy return.
Engineered Mesh on the upper uses an open design to allow for airflow while providing support in key areas.
Embroidery Reinforcement reduces layers and offers support and midfoot lockdown.
Reinforced Eyestays provide increased durability.
