A shoe that doesn't really have a specific place (as far as we can see) in the brand line up. It's simply another max cushioned neutral shoe, only less well engineered than many in the brand's portfolio.

Our verdict

A (slightly) lighter shoe from HOKA, this shoe struggles to define itself well enough in the line up to make it a compelling purchase. There are much better shoes available from HOKA, the Clifton for example or Rincon, both very similar but so much better overall.

  • Positive
  • Lightweight
  • Should be able to find discounted
  • Negative
  • Feels clumpy

First impressions

A slightly lighter, max-cushioned trainer from HOKA, similar to the Clifton 6 and Rincon only a little cheaper and just not quite as good. We struggled to understand what role it fills in the range.

Midsole

PROFLY Midsole

A blend of EVA, features the 'rocker' but in this model there not so much rock, the shoe feels a little flat and bulky, even clumpy.

Upper

A neat enough, stretch mesh knitted upper.

Sole

Standard HOKA outsole, best suited to roads and reasonably durable.

Conclusion

No compelling reason to purchase this HOKA, there are just too many better shoes from the brand that are available.

It seems like its been put in the range simply to fill price point, but there is no standout features or benefits to it over other models.

Technical info

Other than standard features that have been given a 'new name' for the purpose of marketing, there's no 'real' tech here. It is a simple EVA cushioned midsole - done!
