One of the 'original' HOKA ONE ONE shoes, even around before the popular Clifton model, the Bondi sums up exactly what the brand is all about - big maximal cushioning in a lightweght package.
Super cushioning at its best. We'd say one of the best Hoka One One running shoes around for around value and performance. It may be worth paying that little extra for this shoe over say the Clifton given the extra it provides, especially as this model can often be found discounted by retailer.
The most cushioned HOKA ONE ONE running shoe you can buy today, the Bondi is one of the brand's original models and with this version, still one of the best.
The deep cushioning draws you in instantly and, once accustomed to that extra stack height, the shoe feels smooth and pretty easy to get along with.
Most of Hoka's shoes are neutral and the Bondi sits towards the top of their neutral offering just below the Hoka Elavon 2 but above the popular Hoka Clifton 6. If you want a slightly lighter shoe, consider the Hoka Mach 3.
HOKA have always keep things simple, using simple EVA based midsoles; they are cheap and light. You get plenty of cushioning for your money with this model. The softer EVA used in this shoe really does give it a super-soft feel. With the early stage rocker (a bevel close to the heel of the shoe) it rolls forward smoothly and easily, helping you to negotiate that bulk of cushioing.
Its not the most stable, due to the stack height, but for neutral foot types it is perfectly suitable.
An engineered mesh upper is a little thicker and more durable in this HOKA and its better for it. It has a relatively premium feel and gives a snug, supportive fit around the midfoot. It's also a little roomier in the forefoot than other HOKA models.
The outsole has been updated from previous models to offer a little bit more in terms of durability, but there's still nothing overly complicated here. It offers extra rubber at key points of contact for durability.
An original concept and perhaps still one of the best HOKA shoes. If you really want maximum cushioning then this is the shoe to go for. A slight compromise in terms of weight is worth it for the sheer volume of cushioning it provides.
Soft EVA Midsole running the full length of the shoe it is 30% softer than traditional EVA foam, offering enhanced cushioning and support.
Early Stage Meta-Rocker Geometry is a rockered midsole design engineered to deliver a smooth ride and increased propulsion.
