Solid and reliable, comfortable and versatile. Another good shoe from Brooks.
The Brooks Ravenna 8 has a streamlined look and feel, as well as a springy ride thanks to responsive cushioning and updated design to make heel-to-toe transitions even easier so your feet move quickly and naturally from one stride to the next.
First Impressions? A soft, flexible running shoe. It looks the part and feels like it will be up to what’s promised in terms of stability. There’s been plenty of additions to the latest version compared to earlier models so it’s interesting to see how these fare long-term.
The outsole has been completely redesigned which is interesting in that it wasn’t exactly terrible before. Basically, the new configuration promises more grip and early indications from our testing team confirm that is definitely the case. You can mix terrain, safe in the knowledge that these shoes are up to the task, although really they prefer the road. It’s there they excel thanks to the BioMoGo DNA midsole. It’s nice and responsive and, working with the Diagonal Rollbar, helps your stride remain as natural and comfortable as possible; it provides guidance for overpronation. There’s a midfoot transition zone to assist with that as well. Heel to toe transitions are effortless, say our test team.
Snug and secure but slightly narrower than other Brooks shoes. It features the seamless sock liner that we’ve all come to expect from performance shoes and of course it’s breathable and moves with your foot to make your stride as comfortable and natural as possible.
News of a complete redesign can be a little unnerving for fans of earlier models, but Brooks has taken on board a number of issues and created a comfortable, plush even, shoe that is comfortable on all sorts of surfaces. One tester called it ‘reliable’ which in running terms is about the best praise you can give.
How was the Brooks Ravenna 8 for you? Let us know, we’d love to report your findings.
