First impressions

We loved the Glycerin 14 and we’re delighted to say, we love the 15 as well! The Glycerine 15 is designed to be a soft riding neutral shoe that is capable of high mileage daily running.

Not much has changed except for the fact that they look better; the upper has been redesigned slightly and we think it’s an improvement. It has a one-piece mesh upper that is flexible and when you put them on, they feel plush, super comfortable. Along with the upper, this is largely due to the heel large comfort collar around the ankle and the Cushsole insole which feels great underfoot.

On the run, they deliver a soft underfoot experience due to its Super DNA midsole. The new model is slightly more flexible and the shoe offers a decent grip.

Midsole

The soft cushioning comes courtesy of Brooks’ light and responsive Super DNA midsole that provides the cushioning needs of the runner 20% better than the original BioMoGo DNA. The Glycerin 15 offers more cushioning than any other Brooks offering. The Super DNA foam molds to the foot and delivers a very smooth ride.

Their Caterpillar Crash Pad is new to this model and improves the transition from heel to toe off. Flex grooves ensure that the shoe remains flexible.

The insole is made from Brook’s S-257 Cushsole technology and offers an additional layer of cushioning. They mold to your feet over time and ensures additional comfort every time you put the shoes on.

Upper

The redesigned Air Mesh upper allows the feet to move in all four directions. They call it ‘adaptive fit’. Normally this means the uppers will be too lose and baggy but the uppers have plenty of additional support. The addition of 3D printed overlays and a midfoot saddle ensures that the foot is held securely. The Air Mesh has a wider weave than the previous model which will aid breathability.

The heel collar is thick, very comfortable and holds the foot well.

Sole

There are three zonal areas of grip on the outsole known as IDEAL Pressure Zones, which distribute pressure across the sole.

It features the usual high abrasive durable rubber at the heel and blown rubber for comfort at the front of the foot. Flex grooves in the blown rubber ensures flexibility.

The Cush Pod groove will aid cushioning and helps deliver an efficient heel to toe transition.

Conclusion

We were big fans of the 14 and the Glycerin 15 might just be better. If you like a soft riding shoe, certainly consider them. They don’t wallow around, despite their softness, but deliver a very smooth, comfortable and cushioned ride that really is a joy for a neutral runner.
