Slightly smoother and softer than the Ghost 13 thanks to an upgrade to 100% DNA Loft foam with added air to the midsole improves an already fantastic workhorse shoe. If you loved the previous Ghost models then there is no reason why this update will not be your perfect pair of running shoes. Incredibly popular franchise globally, the Ghost 14 has been refinied and improved without radical changes that will be music to the salwarts ears.
Year after year the Ghost franchise becomes more and more popular. This latest Ghost 14 delivers all of the elements runners love about this shoe, with the added bonus of being just that little big smoother and softer on impact. Minor tweaks and updates to a already fantastic product.
Looks like a Brooks Ghost, feels like a Brooks Ghost, rides like a Brooks Ghost. The New Brooks Ghost 14 feels almost identical to the recent models which is a fantastic compliment, as its already one of the best shoes on the market. The ride is softer and slightly more spongey but nothing like many of the super critical lightweight foam shoes on the market right now like the Puma Velocity Nitro or Sketchers Razor 3. The Ghost delivers miles of ample cushioning but retains its stability and solid feel.
A plush, soft feeling comes from Brooks unique blend of of the foam, rubber, and air. EVA foam is the common material used in running shoe cushioning, providing softness at a relatively low weight. Brooks have blended the foam with extra air to ensures that the cushioning stays lightweight, while the added rubber ensures durability.
DNA LOFT delivers the softest experience in the Brooks range, ideal for a high mileage training shoe. There isnt anything revolutionary here, Brooks is playing to the the faithful following that the Ghost has, tweaking the the improvement not re-inventing.
A new one piece Engineered Air Mesh upper hugs the foot for a secure but still breathable fit. Its almost identical to the previous version with a new printed pattern in the heel. The 3D Fit Print applies strategic stretch and structure to the upper, improving the fit and feel of the Ghost 14 around the heel. A very padded tongue is comfortably and ensures optimum comfort. Traditional lacing provides a secure, locked-in feel as you run. Safe and dependable update to the new shoe, and the added benefit they have used up to 30% recycled materials for the mesh - making a tiny difference to the environmental impact.
The usual excellent rubber coverage on the outsole provides great durability, decent grip and the flexibility to as to be expected from a Ghost - decent not fantastic.
Safe and slightly improved on previous models. Bravo to Brooks for not tinkering with a winning formula. Not everyone wants to run in a carbon plated rocket ship with ultra soft foam under foot... The majority of the runners out there just want a well priced, dependable day to day training shoe, and the Ghost 14 is easily one of the best on the market.... Very hard to beat.
