Premium cushioning model from ASICS combines FLYTEFOAM and GEL cushioning for supreme comfort. Now with a softer upper offering an even more luxurious feel. Premium feel, premium price, everyday comfort on the road.
You will appreciate the comfort and cushioning from the off. A true cruiser, the bulk takes a bit of getting used to and feels a bit 'bottom heavy' but the Nimbus delivers a ride of pure quality.
The Nimbus has been delivering exceptional neutral comfort for many years and the new v23 model offers few suprises - thankfully!
The midsole still offers exceptional cushioning and this new model features a re-engineered mesh upper that is softer than before and they're exceptionally comfortable on foot.
The shoe has always been bulky but when you get used to that, it delivers a soft and smooth ride, built to cruise mile after mile. Definately an everyday easy mileage shoe and one will legs will thank you for.
If the price is a bit too steep for you, look at the GT2000.
The Gel-Nimbus uses the brand's Flytefoam material with the addition a forefoot and rearfoot Gel pad insert. The shoes feel soft from the off and deliver a very well cushioned and smooth ride. They feel bulky but that's ok - these shoes are made for high mileage everyday cruising.
The addition of the Ortholite sockliner adds more initial comfort and will mould to the foot over time.
The mesh is constructed of a softer mesh with a different weave than before which fits as well but is just that bit softer and more luxurious feeling on the foot. There is a flexible midfoot panel woven in which is snug but doesn't hinder, and there is also the addition of some rather attractive heel counter reinforcements to deliver a locked in feel.
The outsole has been designed to run smoothly. The wavey tread certainly offers grip on wet pavements and works in conjunction with the wavey groved forefoot to aid transition and flexibility.
Asics high abrasion rubber (AHAR) features in high wear areas to aid durability.
The shoe feels very good on the foot and delivers that smooth riding, leg protecting comfort you need for logging up the miles. A shoe for daily miles rather than for faster paced running, it delivers a high quality performance at a high price point. That said, if you are in the market for a premium neutral cushioned shoe, add the Nimbus 23 to your consideration list.
For good alternatives, have a look at the Brooks Glycerin, the Mizuno Sky or the Hoka Clifton.
