Premium cushioning model from ASICS combining their latest FLYTEFOAM cushioning with the tried and tested GEL cushioning. There's loads of cushioning as you'd expect and although it's not a particularly heavy shoe it can feel a little bulky.
For everyday road running it copes well but the price is also a premium over other models.
The shoes takes a few runs to really appreciate the ride. That deep cushioning gives it a bottom heavy, slightly unbalanced feel. But once things settle in you appreciate the quality of the ride - as you should given the premium price point.
New styling to the upper and midsole give the shoe a relatively fresh new look whilst not straying too far from the tried and tested formula.
The range topping cushioning remains - now with updates to the Flytefoam cushioning and GEL inserts.
Runs well, with a soft and smooth feel although feels a little bulky at first.
Full length Flytefoam materials provide a very soft and smooth ride. The GEL is still premesnt, but is it only a matter of time before the brand drop this all together?
It's a deep, thick cushioned midsole, so take a few miles to really 'bed them in' but after doing so they feel all the better for it.
The multi layed mesh construction has bands of highly breathable sections incorporated into the otherwise well padded design. The Nimbus has always had a thicker/more padded design to it and that kind of comes with the 'top of the range' feel. If anything it's a little too padded and could easily be slimmed down a little, but it's well made and fits well.
THe outsole is a pretty standard design for road running. No real stand out features, bar the more durable carbon rubber in the heel for added durability.
The forefoot section uses multiple sections and this aids flexibility.
A very good shoe as always. Offers great cushioning and a generally stable, yet smooth ride. At this price, it's one of the more expensive shoes around and as such should deliver a high quality performance - which it does but in a very competitive market place the premium over other models is one which needs consideration.
