A 'take-down' from the range-topping MetaRide shoe, this model offers much the same feel and performance yet at a much more competitive and realistic price for an everyday training shoe.
A good all-round neutral shoe for those seeking a light yet high performance trainer that offers something a little different from the mainstream options. The deep rocker sole feels smooth and efficient, helping you go further with ease.
A more resonably priced version of the MetaRide shoe, the GlideRide offers a similar ride and uses the advances introduced in the more expensive model to create an everyday shoe for the neutral runner that feels light and exciting.
The 'ride' series have their own distinctive look and feel and the Glideride sits in the middle of the ride offering under the Metaride and above the attractive Evoride. If you want a more tradional feel, look towards the Gel Nimbus 22 for similar money.
The midsole of the GlideRide has been constructed using Glidesole technology which that works with a stiff forefoot and rocker heel to increase running efficiency by reducing 16.1% the energy loss at the ankle joint.
The bottom layer of the Glidesole midsole is made from FlyteFoam Propel whilst Top layer is FlyteFoam in a high-density composition to keep the stiffness required. FlyteFoam is the lightest cushioning material ASICS has ever made, 55% lighter than the industry standard, EVA.
A full-length FlyteFoam Propel platform is designed to provide enhanced responsiveness at toe-off.
Embedded within the midsole platform, the rearfoot GEL Cushioning Systems work to reduce shock during impact.
These features combine to offer great cushioning and an efficent, smooth riding feel that's very different to anything else available on the market (barring the other ASICS models) - and for the neutral runner offer an exciting and exillerating run.
As we have come to expect from the brand, models in this price bracket can't be faulted for upper design and performance. The knitted mesh design is plush and soft feeling and wraps the foot like your favourite socks.
Breathable and durable, the upper is faultless.
The durable rubber outsole is a simple design and rather low profile yet offers very good traction and durability.
For neutral runners requiring a smooth riding and efficient feeling shoe, this model provides something that's a little different from the mainstream yet after a few miles feels like an old friend.
The cushioning does the job very well and the overall ride helps propel you a little, not so much by 'energy return', but more from the efficent shape and performance of the midsole.
3D Guidance Line smooths the transition and enhances footstrike efficiency by reducing ankle flex.
GUIDESOLE technology offers an efficient ride by combining a rockered sole with a stiff forefoot.
