The shoe is still the same stable neutral high mileage model it always has been, and it is all the better for it.
The Gel Nimbus 22 is more comfortable than its predecessor and offers a softer ride. It's a lovely shoe but it now comes at a hefty price...
In a world of ever evolving shoes, the Nimbus remains, albeit reimagined with the latest technologies.
The shoe is still the same stable neutral high mileage model it has always has been, but is benefitting from the culmination of over 20 years of development.
It’s a stable, capable, long-distance cruiser and in this retro ‘Tokyo’ colourway, has a striking appearance to complement its performance.
Before the introduction of the 'Ride' series of shoes, the Gel Nimbus 22 sat financially at the very top of the neural cushioned shoes from Asics. It's still right up there with only the Gel Quantum Shift and the Metaride costing more. If you something a little different, look towards the Asics Glideride or if you want a cheaper cruiser, check out the Asics Gel Cumulus 21.
Increased GEL in the rearfoot combines with FLYTEFOAM midsole cushioning to provide a lighter and yet more durable ride. The GEL is now a lower density to give a softer feel and with Propel cushioning there’s a more responsive feel on toe-off.
The shoe retains a familiar feel of previous models so existing users should feel only the benefits, with the shoe feeling slightly sleeker and a little more flexible.
The upper is constructed of a really nicely engineered mesh that holds the foot in place while maintaining lightweight breathability.
ASICS High-Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) is placed in critical areas of the outsole for exceptional durability.
We think that the Nimbus 22 is an improvement on the 21st version. It is more comfortable and offers a smoother slightly softer ride.
Flytefoam Propel offers a softer step-in feel with more bounce.
Rearfoot Gel Cushioning System uses a silicone-based gel for responsive shock absorption on impact.
Forefoot Gel Cushioning System uses a silicone-based gel for responsive shock absorption on impact.
ASICS High-Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) is placed in critical areas of the outsole for exceptional durability.
Engineered Mesh upper provides lightweight breathability.
