Light, protective racer trainer ideally suited of rocky long distance adventures.
Well cushioned and light, fast off-road shoe developed with one of the best mountain running specialists. Protective and tough offering great grip even on wet trail and rocks.
Designed for faster off road running, the shoe is ideal for long distancing racing. It has been designed in conjunction with Xavier Thevenard, a three-time Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc winner so comes with some cred!
Gel features in the light, well cushioned FlyteFoam midsole and offers comfortable and protection. The shoe also features a flexible but tough plate under the forefoot, again there for protection against rocks and roots.
There's only a 4mm heel drop on this shoe, designed to keep the centre of gravity low to aid stability on uneven terrain.
The upper looks tough from the off. The mesh features a strong diamond weave design aimed for strength.Arrows of TPU are overlayed forming a midfoot band for additional durability and there is also additional reinforcement along the base of the upper to keep debris from entering.
It looks busy but it's all there to aid performance. The laces are elastic for easy adjustment and there is a strong toe bumper to protect the shoe and the foot when running on rocky terrain. It also features the addition of some small holes in the sockliner to let water out quickly - who needs wet feet when they're racing?
The outsole rubber features a deep space invader looking lug pattern. the ab guys have spent time on this outsole placing different shaped lugs in different positions on the sole - the heel and medial side gripping better for uphills, the lateral side of the shoe gripping better downhill. The rubber compound has been formulated to deliver even better grip on wet trail surfaces.
Asics make very good trail shoes and this is another one. Specifically designed for faster days off-road, the Gel-Fujitrabuco Sky would make a great adventure racing shoe or simply a fast off-road training shoe.
