Style and performance can work together. A shoe that offers road stability and cushioning with the off-road requirements of grip and protection.
A good-looking shoe that delivers off and on road. A stable and cushioned shoe combined with grip and protection.
Offering a firm ride with plenty of protection, the ASICS Gel FujiTrabuco 6 is a varied trail running shoe that excels on rocky terrain. A lightly lugged outsole offers sticky of traction on the trails and a breathable mesh upper offer reliable comfort and durability.
A sturdy shoe with plenty of protection on the trails, the ASICS Gel FujiTrabuco 6 is ideal for rocky, varied terrain.
A nice wide toe box and what for Asics, this is a shoe that allows you to mix road or hard Alpine-type paths, rocky surfaces, the odd bit of road and judging by its build and looks, some mud.
Through its various incarnations - we put the 4 through its paces a few years back - this is very much a trail specific shoe thanks in part to the Solyte injections which create a lightweight midsole with excellent bounce-back and durability while the new heel lining makes the shoe more comfortable and durable. This means you’ll experience a solid, stable responsive shoe. It can cope with some pretty rocky conditions but feel comfortable while doing so. Asics claim you’ll be ‘springing through the mountains’, which is perhaps a slight exaggeration but we get the drift. It’s not a bad feeling shoe and could cope with a nice bit of pace. You’ll be happy with the 8mm drop which is easy to get used to.
No sew, no bits rubbing and a solid build that both protects you (the toe box guards) and holds your feet in place. That said, this is a shoe for relatively comfortable conditions - think lovely Swiss Alps and manicured paths. Fell runners tackling rugged hills and mud might look elsewhere - but they’ll look good in the bar afterwards for sure.
The multi directional lugs always do a good job when it comes to grip. They look innocent and average enough, but they are actually hi-tec designs which play a role whether you are descending slippery surfaces or climbing a big monster of a hill.
We really liked the Trabuco in that it can cope with what most of us average trail runners will encounter - relatively kind conditions. That said, drainage holes and the assorted protective elements make it a sort of a 4WD which doesn't like getting it's wheels too muddy. Is that good? We think so but real aficionados probably won’t.
