Still a very easy to wear, stable but nicely cushioned every day training shoe that will simply eat up miles on the road. Nothing overly complicated, no jazzy technology updates and still a comfortable shoe out the box. This is a well priced workhorse shoe that will appeal to the traditional Cumulus enthusiasts, and a solid option for someone looking for a versatile running shoe.
Biggest update is the integration of the 3D Space Technology construction that is supposed to ensure that the midsole / outsole compresses in all the right places and is versatile enough to create a relatively individual ride but adapting to different foot strikes. The shoe works well, and feels good underfoot and the new technology does improve the shoe over the Cumulus 22 for sure. The cushioning and responsiveness are improved and overall the Cumulus 23 remains a really good value, mid level Neutral shoe that you can easily wear everyday.
Flyte Foam midsole throughout is a nice touch at the price, and the midsole is responsive without being too soft. This is a neutral shoe, but there is a decent element of support.
Single piece upper that is nice and breathable, a well padded tongue and a solid heel counter. The fit is generous, and suits many foot types, and the lacing is very adjustable.
Sole works well in all conditions, and the blown rubber is excellent in wet conditions. The Cumulus has fantastic rubber coverage at the pod design ensures that it will adapt to the ground for foot types. A durable carbon heel and blown rubber forefoot create a smooth heel to toe transition.
The Cumulus is a dependable durable trainer that I expect to last for hundreds of miles like it's predecessors. I would recommend it for regular training and long runs
