With just a slight increase to the overall amount of BOOST cushioning the shoe remains pretty much the same as the original - of ten years ago!! This version, the PB trims the weight over the regular version thanks to a slightly lighter upper design.
Very much the same as the standard edition Ultra Boost, whilst the Boost remains a reasonable shoe, it's disappointing that it really hasn't moved on at all in its execution since its launch. You could be forgiven for thinking it's the same shoe as ten years ago. Without any new development it needs to come down in price to offer better value.
With a slightly redesigned heel counter and new colours, thats the extent of the first impressions of the shoe. It remains the same as always. It has its fans but could its days be nuumbered as brand's now all have their own answer to the TPU midsole material.
The Ultra Boost sits at the top of the neutral cushion offering alongside the Ultra Boost and above the Solar Drive model.
The first of the super-foams, Boost has a soft and springly feel. It can be a little unstable in the heel for over-pronators - so be warned. The toe-off is energetic but for heavier runners the midsole seems to bottom out quickly under the ball of the foot.
A slighter lighter knitted upper design to this the PB model reduces the weight a little and improves the overall fit of the shoe by doing so.
It's well made and relatively durable, but so it should be given the price! Otherwise, it's really a pretty straight forward design.
StretchWeb Outsole
Manufactured from Continental rubber, the StretchWeb outsole completes the Ultra Boost PB for superior grip and a smooth transition through the gait cycle. It's web-like structure cooperates with Boost to allow the shoe to stretch for a flexible and lightweight underfoot feel. The web pattern also means a large surface area which also means better grip. Inspired by tyre technology, Continental rubber supplies traction on wet and dry surfaces, giving you no excuse not to get out and run. The outsole is designed to be just as durable as the Boost midsole, leaving you with a resilient, cushioned and grippy running shoe.
Continental rubber is fantastic and used here, it provides fantastic grip on roads and pavements regardless of the weather conditions. It will be durable too.
