Definitely light, definitely responsive and definitely a shoe designed for racing. You’ll love them for 5km and 10km but probably should be wary for anything longer.
We love the weight and we love the responsive flexibility the Adidas AdiZero provides. Early days in the shoe will suggest it’s best kept for special events (preferable short); this shoe is all about speed but let’s see…
Midsole Stiffer in the forefoot than an average type of shoe which makes it great for speed workouts or really fast distance races. The outsole claims it’s better by 23 per cent and our testers can confirm it’s pretty good in wet conditions. Heel strikers probably should look elsewhere.
Thousands of energy capsules provides the cushioning, while the midfoot torsion system provides propulsion. And better it’s a technology that doesn’t break down so these shoes will last. A thermoplastic unit in the mid-foot area stabilizes the foot and leads it toward a better stride. There isn’t loads of cushioning but, of course, this isn’t that type of shoe.
Very comfortable so there’s no worries about blisters. A little narrower than an average training shoe so that’s something to look out for. Look out for wear issues, but of course, these really are racing shoes so in theory you won’t be wearing them all the time. Good breathability, support and comfort. Heat management is controlled by the Coolever Mesh lining, handy for really long races and a traditional sock liner completes the picture. Directly connected to the lacing system, the stitched-on overlay system helps the upper when hugging the foot and keeping it in place. When the shoe laces are adjusted the upper fabric follows suit, making the fit customizable.
Light and ready to race; some of you will be comfortable using them on a slightly more regular basis for, say, midweek pace sessions, but the relatively light support really says for the majority of the running world, these are weekend warriors to become acquainted with. Love the flexibility and zippy feel.
